The Maximum Darts Kick-Off Tournament started the Canadian Youth National Championships the evening of Wednesday, May 13 with 99 players in attendance vying for the top spots in their respective categories. THURSDAY

Opening ceremonies officially started the 2026 Youth National Championships on Thursday, May 14. First up on the schedule was the NODOR Cup team event. It is an opportunity for each team to play alongside each other against another team and all its members with no separation by age or by gender.

The last day of play at the Nationals was the Mixed Doubles event with a historical conclusion.  Peyton Hammond completed his SECOND Triple Crown in 2 consecutive years! No other player in the history of the Youth or Adult Nationals has accomplished the same. Congratulations Peyton!

Tonight is the awards banquet to wrap up the 2026 Canadian Youth Nationals!

To all the parents, coaches and volunteers, thank you for your dedication to our youth players and program.

To all our youth players, hold your head's high. You accomplished something not everyone gets to experience. You have represented your Province with not only skill, but with sportsmanship and in some cases, courage. Hold your heads high, we are all so proud of you.

Safe travels home to everyone and we will see you next year.

With the exception of President, nominees for any position on the NDFC Executive must be an NDFC member in good standing in a Province or Territory for three (3) consecutive years and/or served on a Member Darts Body Board of Directors.

The deadline to submit the nomination form is March 21, 2026. Further details are included on the candidate nomination profile and election nomination form.

In addition to the Provincial and National Championships, there was a total of 12 tournaments in 4 member bodies (AB, WO, EO, NL) across Canada this season where youth players could earn NDFC Youth Ranking Points. We will be up to 5 member bodies in 2025-26 with QC hosting a youth ranked tournament in November. We can't thank the tournament organizers enough for putting on these youth ranked tournaments. They are the future of our sport!

Additional invites have been extended to Provincial Champions and for additional positions from the Canadian Nationals Singles Championship or the Official Ranking List at May 1, 2025.

All etransfers being sent to the NDFC are to be sent to ndfcdeposits@hotmail.com.

Because of youth age restrictions, the NDFC Youth Ranking Lists run from October 1 to September 30 each year to correspond with our membership season.

The NDFC is excited to announce a new reward associated with the NDFC youth ranking system – the ability to buy into the singles at Youth Nationals. 

Youth members that are in the top 4 of the NDFC youth ranking list as of September 30th, including ties, will now be able to buy into the next National Youth Singles Championship event if they have not made their member body youth team. The parameters include:

1. If a player is in the top 4 on the Junior Ranking List but have aged up to the Seniors Division, they would be buying into the Seniors Singles event
2. If a player is in the top 4 of the Senior Ranking List but have aged out of the youth program, the ability to buy in would be void
3. Any points earned by buy-in ranked player will not count toward their member body Canada Cup points as they are competing as an independent player
4. Every top ranked player buying into the Youth Nationals Singles event will be required to bring their own chaperone, unless the player’s member body is willing to take responsibility for that ranked player 
5. The buy-in fee will be $250.00 per ranked player, and the player is responsible for their own travel, accommodations, banquet ticket, etc.
6. The buy-in players will have the same curfew rules as all other participants in the Youth Nationals

Upon completion of the ranking season, top ranked youth players and their parents will be contacted by the NDFC Youth Development Director with the deadlines associated with buying in as a ranked player. 

We truly hope that this will encourage more member bodies and more tournament organizers to create NDFC youth ranked tournaments across Canada. 

Players will start seeing the term “Open” on WDF ranked tournament flyers because of the recent WDF decision regarding female-only event participation and changes to the WDF Transgender Policy. The WDF has confirmed that anyone is eligible to play in WDF “Open” events. Eligibility for female-only events are limited to those athletes that are recorded female-at-birth, including transgender males that are not undergoing hormone treatment or that have not commenced hormone treatment.

 

It is very important to note that the WDF rules state that an athlete CANNOT play across both categories in a single season unless they become no longer eligible to participate in female-only events. Therefore, an athlete that is eligibility to play in female-only WDF events will have to choose between:

• Open Adult OR Women’s events
• Open Youth U23 OR Girls U23 events*
• Open Youth U18 OR Girls U18 events*

*The only exception to this would be when a WDF youth event is combined into a co-ed event because of very low participation. Then points would appear on the applicable open youth or female youth ranking list and playing in that “Co-ed” event does affect a female-born athlete’s participation for the rest of the season.

 

Points earned in WDF Open events will appear on the Open Adult, Open Youth U23 or Open Youth U18 ranking lists. Points earned in WDF Female-only events will appear on the Women’s Adult, Girls Youth U23 or Girls Youth U18 ranking lists.

 

The NDFC has yet to fully discuss this topic or set future direction in Canada. Female-born athletes considering entering a WDF “Open” event should be aware that their decision could have implications for future NDFC event eligibility that the NDFC has not yet discussed or identified.

As there are more and more WDF ranked tournaments being held in Canada, the Adult and Youth Ranked Tournament Packages have been updated to include extremely important information that all organizers need to be aware of if their tournament is also WDF ranked. See Rules/Constitution for updated packages. 

We are still transfitioning all of our financial records to Noel Aucoin, our new Financial Director. If you need to etransfers funds to the NDFC (e.g. membership, ranked tournament fees, etc.) please contact do not email them to Mary Dezan, as she is no longer looking after NDFC etransfers. Until everything is all transitioned over, please etransfer funds to aucoin.noel@gmail.com 

RECEIVED A MASTERS INVITE?

And not sure what the next step is?

Is your name appearing on the WDF Masters list 2025 WDF World Masters Qualified Players List - DartsWDF.

If yes, you can register for the Masters event. Your invite is direct from WDF and is outside the Canadian invitations being distributed.

If no, this means you have received one of the Canadian invitations. and must renew your member body and NDFC membership. Contact your member body Membership Director to renew your membership.

Once the renewal is complete, your Provincial/Territorial Membership Director will contact the NDFC Membership Director for the next phase in the renewal. The NDFC Membership Director will then provide the NDFC General Secretary with the renewal confirmation and your name will be included in the Canadian invitations list to be provided to WDF. Please note, you DO NOT need your physical membership card to meet the membership renewal condition of the invite.

However, if you intend to go, it is recommended you book your accommodations as soon as possible before there is nothing available. You can make all the arrangements and register for everything EXCEPT THE MASTERS EVENT.

The Canada list of invitees will not be submitted until September. This is when your name will appear on the list and you will be able to register for the event. The registration deadline for the Masters event will be in October.
